How it works
- Paste one number a line; dots, dashes and spaces are fine.
- Each is checked for its length and its check digits.
- The result shows each step of the calculation, and where a number fails.
Frequently asked questions
- How is a TC Kimlik No checked?
- Add the 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th and 9th digits, times 7, minus the sum of the 2nd, 4th, 6th and 8th: its last digit must be the 10th. The last digit of the sum of the first ten must be the 11th.
- Does it check the number with the NVİ?
- No. It only checks that the number is correctly formed; the population register (NVİ) is the only source for whether it belongs to a person.
- Does a valid check digit mean the number exists?
- No — only that it is correctly written. Whether it was issued, and to whom, only the issuing authority can say. The checker never makes up numbers either: it checks the ones you type.
- Is anything uploaded?
- No. The check is worked out in your browser, and nothing you type leaves your computer.
