Item Value
Work (minutes) 25 min

How it works

  1. Choose the work and break lengths — 25 and 5 minutes is the classic pomodoro.
  2. Press Start and work until the sound; the timer moves to the break on its own.
  3. After the break the next round begins; the round number is shown above the time.

Frequently asked questions

What is the pomodoro technique?
A way of working in focused blocks: 25 minutes on one task, then a 5-minute break, and a longer break after about four rounds. It was named after a tomato-shaped kitchen timer.
Can I change the lengths?
Yes — work from 15 to 60 minutes and breaks from 3 to 15. Some people prefer 50 and 10 for deep work.
Does it keep time in another tab?
Yes. The time is worked out from the clock, not by counting ticks, so it stays right in a background tab or after the laptop sleeps, and the sound is scheduled ahead so it rings on time.
Does it take a long break after four rounds?
Not automatically: pause after the fourth round for a longer break, then resume.
Is anything uploaded?
No. The timer runs in your browser; nothing is sent anywhere.
